What is Marketability evaluation?

Marketability evaluation is a determination of a product’s or service market potential.  Marketability evaluation is part of our invention evaluation. Market Analysis

A market analysis is the exercise of gathering information about population groups, competition and prices of similar or comparable products that are selling.

The market analysis report does not necessary tell you that your invention is going to be profitably marketable in the marketplace. Unfortunately many inventors have been bamboozled with extensive or several pages of market analysis document that does not tell them anything about their ability to make money with their future product or service.

A customer once approached us with an extensive marketing document, about 100 pages, of his invention with market analysis that answered no questions about this person’s chances of being successful in the marketplace.

I am not saying that market analysis is not necessary. It is important but you don't need a 100 page document. And more important, you need to go beyond marketing analysis to successfully market your invention. This is where marketability analysis comes into play.

Marketability Analysis

Marketability analysis is the determination or study of a service or product’s ability to sell profitably in the marketplace.

In addition to knowing your target market, you must know what channels to use for the sale of your product or service and reasonably accurate numbers to project profitability.
